What is...the third step in protecting your IP?

Once you have value in your IP asset (e.g., proper use and/or registration) you may choose to license it to another for a period of time, a certain use, and/or in a certain location; or assign it (give all right and title) to another. You may license or assign the asset for money, or for some other form of value. For example, you may wish to cross-license, which is when you have permission to use another’s IP asset in exchange for them using your IP asset. As you may imagine there are many options available. Consult a qualified IP attorney to learn more.
