YOUR IP AND BUSINESS ARE SAFE WITH KPIP LAW
KPIP Law strives to Identify, Protect, and Monetize your intellectual property through an all-encompassing practice. Although located in Concord, NH, we serve clients in the U.S. and around the world, from entrepreneurs to global firms to foreign counsel in need of U.S. representation.
Attorney and founder Kim Peaslee has you covered with trademark, copyright, and patent protections with support from her extensive network of colleagues worldwide who help with international IP matters. Her wide-ranging background in the technology space includes chemistry, biotech, medical and scientific devices, optics, software, materials, mechanical devices, and consumer products, to name a few.
Over the years, Kim has discovered that people run into legal trouble when there is too much gray area surrounding their IP. The more clearly defined your IP is, the less likely it is to end up in litigation.
That’s where she steps in—to obtain precise patents, trademarks, and copyrights. These measures both allow your company to succeed and inform your competitors of the line between your rights and theirs.
When all is said and done, you can rest assured your brand, ideas, inventions, and creations (i.e., your competitive advantage) will be secure while you focus on running your business.
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
HI, I'M KIM PEASLEE, PH.D.!
My path to law was a nontraditional one. Starting out as a jeweler and metalsmith, I designed lanterns, fine jewelry, and other metal products. At age 24, I started my undergrad, double majoring in chemistry and biology. After a year off to work in an analytical lab, I went on to obtain my Ph.D. in biophysical chemistry.
It was during this time that I discovered firsthand that protecting intellectual property is about so much more than it sounds—it’s about fostering innovation and healthy competition. This runs deep within me thanks to my own unfortunate experience as a Ph.D. student in which my work was stolen and published without giving me credit. As a result, I had to start over with a second dissertation program.
This taught me the harsh lesson that your ideas don’t always belong to you. It drove my career down an unexpected path as I decided that I didn’t want to see any other creator or innovator’s rights or property taken from them. So I pursued a law degree in tandem with my Ph.D.
Upon graduating, I gained pharmaceutical prosecution experience working at Merck as a Patent Fellow. Over the years, I’ve worked at several Boston and New Hampshire law firms of various sizes and cultures, including seven months as Interim Chief IP Counsel in the defense space. This range of experience provided me with a unique perspective and allowed me to to take advantage of the benefits of working independently—not least of which is the ability to provide exceptional client service!
This led me to launch KPIP Law in 2020. Today, I serve entrepreneurs, experienced business leaders, and artists in an effort to promote ongoing advancement in the science, technology, and creative fields.
